The jacket. The jacket. THE JACKET! THE JACKETTTTTT!!!!! *dies* Hardest shading job I've ever worked on and it still turned out like crap!

This picture was created to specifically focus on how to shade different kinds of material. Very difficult. Took me about a week off and on to finish this. The jacket took me four days. Compared to that, everything else was easy!

But all in all, I'm pleased with how this pic turned out. It's obviously the captain of Squad 6, Byakyua Kuchiki! And he's in Bankai release form (a.k.a. Flower Power Mode). I love Byakuya! I loved him even when he was being a jerk to Rukia! He's just too awesome not to love!

Oh yeah, for those who don't know, the symbol on Byakuya's back is the symbol for the number "6" in a box. Squad 6. It's very entertaining to me to see how many symbols Japanese and Chinese share, 'cause Chinese has the exact same symbol meaning the exact same thing. Same thing for most of the other numbers up to 9. And the word "love". Etc...

Background was fairly easy, even though it's the first serious background I've done in a while. If you look behind the crapload of lethal flower petals, you can see the outline of the Seireitei (just behind Byakyua's head). The sun is peeking out through the building, which is why it's brighter in that particular spot.

Constructive criticism is welcome, but please be gentle as this is the first time I've done shading of this magnitude. Please focus particularly on the shading of the jacket. Any ideas as how to better myself in that are welcome!

For a close-up of his hair, go HERE! :D

This is amazing. I'm wondering how do you do that type of indepth shaping? I'm still such a newbie.
