Boy howdy, this is officially my last piece of work submitted to DA before the New Year! Granted, it's already 2014 for most of you, but I've got another 37 minutes! Anyway, this is just a silly thing, so I didn't spend any gross amount of time on it or anything. It was just derpy and fun!
I heard somewhere that Rick had originally intended for Percy to see Nancy somehow during the defense of Olympus, but they cut it due to length. You remember Nancy Bobofit? The girl that picked on Percy and Grover before Percy knew he was the son of Poseidon? The one who, for some ungodly reason, enjoyed peanut butter and ketchup sandwiches? Yeah, her. I thought it would be funny if Percy and Annabeth were on a date in snowy downtown NYC when suddenly Nancy recognizes him and goes over to antagonize him for old time's sake. But by this point, Percy has seen a LOT worse than the likes of Nancy, so he just sees the reunion as nostalgic and kind of funny, which ticks Nancy off more. Annabeth just goes with it-- it tends to happen a lot. Her boyfriend is stupid-- there's no helping it. If he gets punched in the nose, it's his own fault. :3
